Can I let you guys in on a little secret?
Here it goes:
I'm planning on wearing makeup sooner or later.
For the last two months since I started watching vlogs by Bethany Mota, I've become obsessed with beauty and fasion. When I watched her makeup tutorials, I was fascinated by how early Bethany started to put on makeup. And that got me wondering whether makeup was really that bad as parents always said it was. Like most girls, I was scared of the damage makeup can do to our skin because our parents always warned us that our skin will age quicker. After a bit of research, I've come up with the answer that, yes this is true, but there are ways to avoid problems from happening.

Here's a quick summary: Girls wear makeup because we want to feel beautiful.
We want to feel confident and not worry about our appearance. We feel prettier when we wear makeup and because of this, there is a boost in confidence. And this is a good thing. Confidence is attractive. Whenever my mom talks to me about successful people, the first thing she says is their confidence. Successful people don't necessary have to look all stunning to look attractive. Their confidence in their appearance and themselves causes everyone to think that way too. So in conclusion, don't wear makeup because someone told you you're ugly or to impress that boy. Wear it because it is fun too or because you want to feel beautiful.
There are so many myths on why makeup is bad and I wish to dispel that because not all of it is true. If you want to apply makeup I want reassure you that nothing bad will happen. So here it goes:
1. Makeup makes your skin age faster.
This is the number one thing parents like to tell their kids and it is only partially true. Makeup will only age your skin if you forget to wipe it off before you go to sleep or if you over-apply it. So even though I said that nothing bad will happen, you still need to take precautions about getting too "in-love" with your makeup.
2. Makeup is too expensive
Makeup is expensive only if you want it to be. You don't need to buy a brand-named makeup and you don't need to buy every single type of makeup. Only buy the makeup you need. Don't buy all the different eye shadow shades or a bunch of powders. Choose one and use minimal amounts of it everyday. It is ultimately your decision what to put on your face. If you want to be certain that what you're putting on your face is of the best quality, then buy the brand-named ones. As for me, I would also choose to go for the cheapest best quality makeup. So I would look for the lowest price makeup, but with really good reviews. And surprisingly a lot of the cheaper makeups have better reviews than the brand-named ones. Just a little tip, Elf is a good brand if you are looking for cheap, but really good quality makeup.
3. Makeup will only hide your breakouts not fix them; It will actually make your pimples worse.
I actually found out that once you start wearing makeup you have better face hygiene. You are forced to wash your face everyday and apply moisturizers and sunscreen. With this said, your face will heal in no time if you keep your face clean whenever you put on makeup. In addition, the products will buy will be better in quality than the products you originally used for acne-problems. There are many different kinds of makeup suited for the many different skin types; for example, dry skin, oily skin, sensitive skin. By choosing the makeup that is right for your skin type and also pairing it with better face hygiene, you will have less breakouts.
Confidence also have lots to do with pimples. Stress and depression can actually cause your pimples to worsen. But if you did follow my advice and wear makeup to feel beautiful and for confidence, your body will heal itself faster.
